Music Classes & Lessons - The Caedmon Music School

The Caedmon Music School is open to students of all ages, including adults, and you do not have to be a Caedmon student/family to enroll.

All levels and genres of instruction are offered, from basic skills to advanced proficiency; and from popular to classical and rock repertoire. Skills such as note reading, music theory, sight reading, and ensemble playing are all gained through our variety of private lessons and classes.

Piano with Delana Thomsen

Ages 4 and older, including adults.

30/45/60 minute lessons available.

Instruction offered from beginner to advanced level. 

Piano with Jason Andrews

Ages 5 and older, including adults

All levels of instruction offered from beginner skills to advanced playing proficiency. Emphasis on the classical teaching and performing repertoire, with some popular and jazz repertoire offered. Traditional Methods taught, with consideration of tailoring to the individual needs of each student. Correct technique, note reading, music theory, sight reading, ensemble playing covered.

Benefits of playing include development of fine motor skills, left and right hand coordination, sharpened memory, improved attention span and focus, improved self-discipline through practicing, and support in reading.

Piano with Jiuan-Jiuan Chiou

Ages 3 and older, including adults.

30/45/60 minute lessons available.

All levels of classical piano instruction offered, from beginner techniques to advanced musical expertise. Dalcroze and Traditional Methods taught. Note reading and writing, sight reading, sight singing, music theory, piano four-hand playing, and music analyzing learned. Benefits of playing include attainment of bimanual polyrhythmic skill, kinesthetic sense, focus, increased self-mastery and self-confidence, improved mindful reading and learning, powered up memory skills, developed social skills, amped up brain function, boosted concentration, fine motor, eye-hand coordination.

Piano/Keyboard with David Sklar

Ages 5 and up, including adults.

A diverse range of teaching methods covered which include conservatory style lessons individually tailored to each student’s level and needs. Additional methods include Alfred, Bastien, Music for Little Mozarts and Faber. Lessons specialize in all styles of music including Classical, Popular, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Film, Television and Video Game Music, and Broadway. Benefits of playing include increased concentration, attention span and various motor skills, improved memory, coordination and discipline.

Skills taught include note reading, music theory, sight reading and ensemble playing. Cello with Caleb von der Swaag

Ages 5 and older, including adults.

All levels of instruction offered, from beginner to advanced. Benefits of learning the cello include strengthened memory, attention span, coordination, and self-discipline. Aside from these brain-boosting bonuses, music education also builds self-confidence and improves social skills, while offering a fun form of self-expression.

Rock/Acoustic/Electric Guitar with Adam Schlessinger

Ages 5-12 years old.

Excellent for fine motor skill and rhythm development. Focus on blues/rock pentatonic scales and  basic chord progressions. This class is designed for beginners who are looking to build a strong foundation and have fun.

Guitar with Michael Smith

Ages 5 and up, including adults.

All levels of instruction, Classical, pop and rock styles offered. Traditional notation, tab, and chord diagrams are used in hands-on relaxed lessons. All levels of instruction offered from beginning fundamentals through the most advanced repertoire. Classical, pop, rock, jazz offered. Emphasis, in addition to trumpet technique, is on musical literacy.

Benefits of studying trumpet include developing a love of music. The emphasis on deep breathing techniques helps to develop coping skills.

Saxophone/Clarinet/Improvisation with Berta Moreno

Ages 8 and older, including adults.

All levels of instruction offered from beginner skills to advanced playing proficiency. Repertoire includes popular, classical, jazz, latin, broadway and more. Classes will also focus on ear training, note reading, music theory, sight reading, ensemble playing, improvisation and composition.

Piano Discovery Class

Maximum number of children in class is 4.

Ages 4-10 (children either grouped in ages 4-6 or 7-10).

60 minute classes available.

Benefits/skills learned for the class includes musicality, fine motor skills, coordination, brain development, focus, concentration, time/organization management, understanding that music is a language, reading skills, expression, creativity, social skills, and learning from each other.
