After School Programs

As the first program of its kind among Independent Schools in NYC, our After School program provides an enriching extra-curricular experience for children, offering an array of classes, lessons, and activities.

Often with over 50 class offerings per trimester, there is definitely something for everyone, including Lego Robotics, Sewing, Fencing, Junior Builders, and Ballet.

We’re proud of this exciting line up of classes and are always looking for ways to suit the budding interests of each child.

To accommodate working families, Caedmon After School classes for Full-Day Early Program and Elementary students are 40, 60, or 80 minutes in length, with pick up times at 4:20 p.m., 4:40 p.m. or 5:00 p.m.

Registration

Registration for After School can be completed in person or online via the Caedmon Radius parent portal. Please make checks payable to The Caedmon School. Credit card payment is also accepted in person at the business office or by calling extension 303. A $20 late fee will be charged to anyone who enrolls after the stated registration deadline for that trimester. Unless you are notified by telephone or email, consider your child automatically enrolled. Registration cannot be accepted from families owing fees from prior terms.

Refunds

Tuition is fully refundable until the first class. A prorated refund of the course fee is available prior to the third class. There are no refunds available after the third class.

Extended Day

Extended Day is available as a general childcare option for all families after 3:30 dismissal. After receiving a snack, students play outside in the courtyard or engage in crafts or indoor games in Caedmon’s downstairs space. Beginning in late September, students in grades 1 through 5 spend a portion of Extended Day, called Homework Helper, in a quiet classroom from 4:00 – 4:30. Children may also attend Extended Day after dismissal while waiting for a later-starting music lesson. Similarly, children may go to Extended Day following an after school activity or music lesson.

The billing rate is $25/hour. Minutes and hours accrue through the month and the business office sends out an invoice at the end of each month. Families are only billed for the actual time their child is in Extended Day. As with After School classes, Flex Tuition families are billed at a discounted rate. In addition, non-Flex Tuition families receive a 10% discount each month if the accrued time exceeds 10 hours.

After School Dismissal

ONLY the person(s) indicated on the registration form may pick children up following their After School activity. Any changes in this procedure must be provided in writing to the school registrar, Laura Capote, or the director. If your child is in school, but will not attend After School that day, please notify the director as well.
