Young Beginners

2 years old to 2.5 years old

Our youngest age group, the Young Beginners class has a 5:1 student teacher ratio and the school day runs Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.  We also offer longer day options with either a 3:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. dismissal.  The Young Beginners Program is designed to build children’s social and emotional skills, and develop confidence, competence, and independence in first-time school children. We offer a predictable daily routine, a clear and accessible arrangement of Montessori materials, developmentally appropriate tasks, and an emphasis on social interaction. The student-teacher ratio is intentionally small so that teachers can provide the special attention children of this age need.

The predictable routines, orderly arrangement of materials, and carefully planned activities gently help children to become accustomed to the classroom. Following simple directions, learning to put work away and to take turns are seeds that grow into an awareness and consideration of others. Gradually, the children become aware of their classmates and learn the joy of friendship.

Specialist Classes
Taught by Caedmon teachers, our Young Beginners program offers specialist classes in both music and movement. Young Beginner children are also paired once per week with their Elementary Book Buddies for a one-on-one storytime.
