I am Vaishali…a wife, a mom and an entrepreneur are a few of many titles I own:)  Picnics in the parks, spending time on the driving range, playing golf, squash, skiing, eating out (when we can), and taking short family getaway trips are some of our favorite things to do. I have two daughters, one is a junior in high school and the other in 3rd grade. In 2007 my older child, now a Caedmon alum, started in her 3s, and graduated in 2015. My younger daughter started her journey at Caedmon in the 3s program. The past 13 years have been an enriching journey not just for the kids but also for me. I am a part of the Caedmon CFA (Caedmon’s Family Association) and chair The Caedmon School’s Holiday Fair (a fundraiser and an event that brings the community together), which I started 6 years ago and got full support from the school and families. Outside of Caedmon, I am an entrepreneur and founder of a designer clothing brand that aims to highlight artistries from various heritages across the world by bringing them to the contemporary world of fashion.

What we love most about Caedmon:

  1. The Modified Montessori program. It’s a perfect way for teaching kids to be independent and confident.
  2. The school understands that each kid develops at their own pace and the teachers are able to identify this and support or challenge each student accordingly.
  3. The school is constantly striving to improve their curriculum and teachers are constantly enhancing their expertise with new courses and degrees.
  4. Caedmon is a close knit community where everyone is grounded and caring.

Bio:

My name is Irma Ramos-Cuevas, parent of a 1st grader.  My daughter entered Caedmon in Kindergarten.  Although we have only been at Caedmon for 2 years, I am also a proud alum family member.  Two of my nieces who are now ages 24 and 21 attended Caedmon, therefore I am quite familiar with the Caedmon school. Being such a close knit family, I attended many of their school related activities and it is one of the main reasons I wanted my daughter to experience this type of environment.

Prior to the Pandemic, I enjoyed several of the Family Fun Nights at Caedmon, such as our Bingo nights and volunteering to help prepare for our Halloween festival.  It was a joy to participate along with my daughter and family members in this event and volunteering at one of the fun stations.  In addition, I have participated in several classroom activities, such as reading to the children and carving pumpkins.  It was also a joy to prepare our artwork with the children for our annual auction as well as attending with my family.  Additionally, I attend the Families of Color Committee meetings that are hosted regularly.  Lastly, I have had the pleasure of sharing information with prospective parents who are interested in attending our wonderful community.

As a family we enjoy playing board games, drawing, taking long drives, watching movies and spending our time with our extended family members.  We reside in Queens, New York and commute daily into the city for school and work.

What we love most about Caedmon:

The small, quaint setting provides a feeling of family and togetherness.  The children have direct contact with the teachers, who truly address the whole needs of a child, and as a result have a love of learning. When my daughter began kindergarten she struggled a bit, but the warm and loving staff really made an effort to work with her and helped her through it. I have no doubt that it is because of this environment that my daughter has adjusted so well to the current circumstances surrounding the pandemic.
